Moorgate released their first and self produced demo “I am the abyss when you fall” in spring 2004.

The lineup then consisted of Joakim Holst on vocals, Magnus Åberg and Johannes Edvardsson on guitars,

Simon Lundh on bass and Erland Olsson on drums.  The music at that time could be described as mid

tempo, melodic death/thrash metal.

The band made some changes in the lineup during spring of 2004.

Johannes Edvardsson left and Fredrik Svensson joined the band.

A few months later they released their second demo “Drawn from Life”. The sound now had moved a bit further

down the road towards more extreme types of metal.

But once again Moorgate was forced to face changes in the lineup as guitar player

Fredrik Svensson had to leave to pursue his education.

And during 2005 there really wasn’t much going on in the band except for trying out new

band members, rehearsals and song writing.

As 2006 appeared at the horizon Moorgate was still looking for a new guitar player. At the same time they were

approached by independent record label Cutting Edge Records.

They were offered a contract to record their debut album and instantly took the opening. At the same time

Fredrik Svensson had the opportunity to rejoin the band.

In November 2006 the debut album “Close Your Eyes and Fade Away” was released,

but the year ended somewhat in tragedy,

Drummer and forming member Erland Olsson had to leave the band due to illness.

It left the band in a state of shock for quite some time but they turned it around and managed to start over again.

A short while after Jerker Wennström was recruited to fill the drummer’s position.

2007 shaped up to be yet another “normal” Moorgate year. The record deal with Cutting Edge Records expired

and since the band had no desire to renew it the hunt for a new one has begun.

Magnus Åberg and Fredrik Svensson both left the band which made singer and the band’s main

song writer, Joakim Holst, take over the guitar duty.

New material was written and the recording of the new E.P, “Sodomite Land of the Damned"

started in august.

The sound continued to evolve and with help from Wennströms energetic drumming a breed of more complex

and well written songs was born.

2008 was about finishing the mixing of the EP and trying to make Moorgate work as a trio.

Also, a new bunch of songs were written and the band is worked hard to be ready to hit the stages that coming fall.

In January 2009 drummer Jerker Wennström left the band.

The same month auditions were held and a new drummer and a new guitar player were recruited.

In August of 2009 the band was ready to record some new material and chose to teturn to NinjaStudion.

A four track E.P was the result of the revisit and it's called "Denial of Reality".

The 2009 version of Moorgate consists of:

Joakim Holst – Guitars and vocals

Simon Lundh – Bass and vocals

Joakim Strandberg - Drums
Kåre Timmermann - Guitar
